Simple Sunday Face

Today was a miserable rainy day which is completely unacceptable for July! I didn't have any plans so I knew if I didn't get up and put some makeup on I wouldn't have ever got out of bed.

This Bourjois Happy Light Matte Serum Primer promises to mattify your complexion and minimise pores for an airbrushed look. I've only had this for a few days but so far I'm loving it. It doesn't make my skin dry under my foundation but helps my makeup stay put for much longer. I've recently been using my Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Foundation again recently. I have the shade 'believe in me ivory' which is slightly too dark for me but I've been able to get away with it as it's summer. Also I spend a little extra time buffing it in with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush.

Next I move on to mascara. I give my lashes a good curl with my Models Own Eyelash Curlers then apply two coats of L'Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Waterproof Mascara. Although it claims 'mega volume' I don't find this gives any volume to my lashes but I do love the way it defines and separates my them which is perfect for a daytime look.

I recently subscribed to Kandee Johnson on YouTube (I know! What took me so long?!) and saw that she applies her powder with a sponge. Well if it works for Kandee I'm trying it. I use my Miracle Complexion Sponge from real techniques and the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in 'Light'. This powder is perfect for those that want to set make up without looking cakey. I highlight the tops of my cheeks and just under my brows with Soap and Glory's Glow All Out and a Real Techniques Contour Brush. I add a pop of colour with Benefit's Dandelion blush and a Real Techniques Blush Brush.

This makeup is really simple and quick to do. I sometimes wear this for work as it takes no time at all and is nice and natural. You can always spice it up with a bright lip if you fancy it.

My Tips for A Happier You

I wanted to do this post because I think it's important for everyone to look after number 1. Mental health and well-being is still sort of a taboo subject and it shouldn't be. I had been feeling sad for a long time and that was out of character for me.

It's hard for me to talk about because I didn't want to admit that I wasn't ok but I'm hoping this might encourage some one else to do the same and get some help. Knowing that other people out there are going through or have been through something similar reminds me I'm only human and it's such a relief. Being unhappy all the time is exhausting and sometimes contagious to those around you.

It's been a long journey but I wanted to share with you a little list I compiled that's been helping me feel like myself again.
